Alder & Co. is an interior design studio operated by Melissa Size, based in the North West of England.

Alder & Co. offers interior design services, which may include consultations, virtual room design and full room design.
The exact scope of your project will be confirmed in writing before work begins. Depending on the service booked, deliverables may include concept development, moodboards, colour schemes, furniture and accessory sourcing, space-planning recommendations, shopping lists, technical drawings and/or on-site styling.
Only the deliverables specifically listed in your proposal are included. Additional rooms, drawings, revisions, visits or services may incur extra fees.
Virtual Room Design is provided remotely. The Client is responsible for measuring their space accurately, purchasing items and arranging any installation or trades.
Full Room Design may include agreed technical drawings and an on-site styling visit. Unless expressly agreed in writing, it does not include building work, procurement on the Client’s behalf, contractor management, installation management or supervision of trades.
-
An enquiry through the website does not create a contract or require you to make a payment.
After discussing your requirements, I may provide a proposal setting out the recommended service, scope, fee, deliverables and anticipated timescale. A booking is confirmed when you accept the proposal and complete any required initial payment.
Any changes to the agreed scope must be confirmed in writing. Changes may affect the fee and project schedule.
-
The fee for your service will be stated in your proposal or booking confirmation.
Unless otherwise agreed:
Payment terms and any deposit or instalment schedule will be stated in your proposal.
Work will begin once the booking is confirmed and any required initial payment has been received.
Any additional work outside the agreed scope will be quoted separately and must be approved before it begins.
Where payment is overdue, I may pause work after giving you written notice. Pausing work may affect the project timetable.
Any travel, delivery, purchasing or third-party costs will be explained and agreed with you before they are incurred.
-
I will make reasonable efforts to meet the estimated project dates stated in your proposal. Timescales may change if the brief changes, information or approvals are delayed, or suppliers and third parties cause delays.
The Client agrees to:
Provide accurate measurements, photographs, plans and relevant property information.
Communicate decisions and feedback within agreed timeframes.
Review proposals and drawings carefully and raise any concerns before purchasing or implementing the design.
Ensure that any required permissions, approvals and professional advice are obtained.
I cannot guarantee the availability, price or delivery dates of products from third-party suppliers.
-
The number of revisions included in your service will be stated in your proposal.
A revision means an adjustment to the agreed design direction or deliverables. A substantial change to the brief, room, design direction or scope may be treated as additional work and quoted separately.
The Client is responsible for checking and approving the final design before proceeding with purchases or work on the property.
-
Product recommendations are based on the information available at the time of sourcing. Product prices, stock, specifications and availability may change.
Unless your proposal expressly states otherwise, the Client purchases products directly from suppliers and is responsible for checking the supplier’s terms, delivery arrangements, warranties and return policy.
Alder & Co. is not responsible for third-party products, supplier performance, delivery delays, discontinued items or changes made by manufacturers. If I purchase products on your behalf under a separately agreed arrangement, the purchasing terms and any applicable fees will be set out in writing.
-
Design drawings and recommendations are prepared for the agreed interior design purpose. They are not a substitute for structural, architectural, building-regulations, electrical, plumbing or other specialist advice.
The Client must obtain any required permissions, approvals and professional assessments and use suitably qualified and insured tradespeople. Contractors must check dimensions, site conditions and the suitability of drawings before carrying out work.
Alder & Co. does not undertake construction or supervise trades unless this is expressly agreed in writing.
-
If you wish to cancel or reschedule, please contact me in writing at melissa@alderandco.co.uk.
If you book as a consumer online or otherwise at a distance, you may have a statutory 14-day cancellation right, beginning on the day the contract is made. The details of this right, including how to exercise it, are set out below.
If you ask me to begin work during that 14-day period and then cancel, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service provided up to cancellation, where the law permits.
If you cancel after the statutory cancellation period has ended, payment may be due for work already completed and any non-refundable costs or commitments reasonably incurred for your project. Any cancellation charges will be subject to applicable consumer law and the terms set out in your proposal.
If I need to reschedule a consultation or visit, I will notify you and offer an alternative date.
-
If you are a consumer and the contract is made online, by email or away from my business premises, you may have the right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason.
To cancel, you must notify me clearly in writing before the cancellation period expires. You may use the model cancellation form below, but you do not have to.
If you want the service to begin within the 14-day cancellation period, you must expressly request this. If you then cancel after work has begun, you may be required to pay for the service supplied up to cancellation. If the service is fully performed within the cancellation period, your cancellation right may end only where you have given the required prior express consent and acknowledgement.
To request that work begins within the 14-day period, contact me at melissa@alderandco.co.uk and state that you expressly request the service to begin before the cancellation period ends. I will provide any required cancellation information as part of the booking process.
-
Design concepts, drawings, moodboards, schedules and other design materials created by Alder & Co. remain my intellectual property unless agreed otherwise in writing.
Once the agreed fee has been paid, the Client may use the supplied design materials for the specific project and property for which they were created. They may not be resold, reproduced for another project or commercially distributed without my written permission.
-
I may ask for permission to photograph or share images of a completed project for my portfolio, website or social media.
I will not publish identifiable images of your home or project without your consent. You may decline, and this will not affect the service you receive.
Concept imagery, visualisations and moodboards may be used to illustrate design ideas. They are not photographs of completed work, and the final result may differ due to product availability, site conditions, installation and other factors.
-
I will provide my services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.
To the extent permitted by law, I am not responsible for losses arising from inaccurate information supplied by the Client, products or services provided by third parties, or building work carried out by others.
The Client should obtain appropriate specialist advice before implementing designs involving structural changes, building regulations, electrical work, plumbing or other regulated or safety-critical matters.
-
If you have a concern about my service, please contact me at melissa@alderandco.co.uk, explaining the issue and the outcome you are seeking. I will review the concern and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
-
Personal information is handled in accordance with Alder & Co.’s separate Privacy Policy. Information about cookies and similar technologies is provided in the separate Cookie Policy.
-
I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The terms applicable to your project will be those provided to you when you book, unless a change is agreed with you in writing or is required by law.
-
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory protections under the laws of the country in which you live, where applicable.
